Broadway Connection Competition Team, Austrian Open 2008

From April 4-6 the Austrian Open 2008 in Musical & Showdance took place in Güssing. Our Competition Team returned with an impressive result which confirms the professional level of education at the Broadway Connection.

Diamant-Auszeichnung Michaela Pircher

Diamond Award for Michaela Pircher

Michaela Pircher won the Diamond Award and National Champion with KrisTina’s choreography HAVANA. Further 6 dances won Gold, 18 Silver and 1 Bronze. HAVANA received the Highest Points for Seniors and DISNEY’S MAMBO #5 was the best scored dance of the Minis.

Even two dances, HIGHSCHOOL STOMP und SWING BROTHER SWING (Choreo: KrisTina Decker), got nominated for Best Choreography.

We congratulate especially Michaele Pirchner for her nomination as Best Female Talent and Corvin Frantsits for his nomination as Best Male Talent.

We thank all our students for their great commitment. Special Thanks to KrisTina Decker for all these wonderful choreographies.

We also thank all those parent that reguarly help us with the organisation and during the competitions.

Our students convinced also at the European Open 2007 in Rijeka and won an impressive 8 Gold, 13 Silver and 1 Bronze Medal. Further they won 6 European Championship Titles and 3 Runner-Ups.

Our dancers, parents and supporters enjoyed the southern temperatures and used every opportunity to jump into the cool water. (With valuation points obviously. 😎)

The Austrian Open 2007 were the so far biggest Musical & Showdance Championships in Austria. Around 1,400 participants from 38 dance schools and from all states came on the weekend from March 25 – 27, 2007 to Klagenfurt to compete for the National Championship Titles.

The students of the Broadway Connection celebrated again a sensational success: 8 Gold, 9 Silver, 5 Bronze, amongst them 6 National Titles and 6 Runner-Ups were awarded to our Kids and Youth!

This is the exceptional result of the Viennese Dance Studio Broadway Connection at the Austrian Open 2007 for Musical and Showdance.

The gold/silver result of the Broadway Connection confirms KrisTina Decker’s approach on the dance education for youth: Professionals share their knowledge, custom-made training for the students in manageable class sizes. Goal of the school is to offer – in addition to a broad range of dance styles – acting, singing and acrobatic. With that “Vienna’s First Show School” provides a solid foundation for a professional stage career. The best dances of the Austrian Open are qualified for the “EUROPEAN OPEN“. They will take place from May 2 -6, 2007 in Croatia.

The European Open are the qualification for the “US OPEN” in America, where the Broadway Connection won 4 Gold medals last year.

Dance Olympus Convention 2006 (New York City)

Every year the Dance Olympus Summer Tour has an audition to find young dancers for next year’s tour. Out of the 900 applicants from all of the U.S.A. 10-20 “VIPs” are chosen to study routines with famous choreographers and to perform them on US tour.

To become a “VIP” the dancers needs to impress in all styles. The audition includes Ballet Barre, Center, Jazz Combination, Modern/Contemporary and obviously Tap. We are happy that Maria Gabler was amongst the two VIPs chosen from 80 applications there. And all of that after only 1 year of tap classes at the Broadway Connection!

Not enough! Michaela Pircher won the “Audition Scholarship Award“. As part of the convention there are audition classes for Juniors and Seniors. In this class the young dancers learn what’s important for auditions and get useful tips. The teacher splits the participants in groups and has them perform previously taught routines in an “audition”. After each audition dancers are eliminated until there are only 8 left per age group. These 16 dancers then perform at the recital and 4 of each age group receive a scholarship of about $ 210. Congratulation Michaela!

Our small but fine team presented them from their best side. All 5 nominated dances won Gold in the Qualification Round and also in the Finale.

Our Song & Dance Trio “You Can’t Stop The Beat” achieved the highest points of our dances and Michaela Pircher received a “Special Cha Cha Award” for her “expressive” dance.

Broadway Connection Competition Team, European Open 2006

After a exceptional result at the Austrian Open our students jumped at the opportunity to compete on home ground and celebrated a phantastic result at the European Championships in Baden bei Wien.

Our student Michaele Pircher earnt herself a Diamond Award for her number “Another Cha Cha” and received also the Highest Points in Juniors. Further our students won 10 Gold and 7 Silver Medals, and we celebrated 9 European Championship Titles and 2 Runner-Ups.

In additon our dancers Aleksandra Georgieva and Michaela Pircher were nominated for the Future Talents award.

Broadway Connection Competition Team, Austrian Open 2006

The Austrian Open 2006 was the so far largest Musical and Showdance Championship in Austria. Around 1,300 participants from all states came to Oberpullendorf (Burgenland) on the weekend of March 24-26, 2006 to compete for the National Championship Titles.

The students of the Broadway Connection celebrated another sensational success: 5 Gold, 9 Silver, 6 Bronze and 2 Special Jury Awards were won by our kids & youth!

Best Choreography for KrisTina Decker with “The Mask – How it Began”, AO2006

In addition, the Broadway Connection director and choreographer KrisTina Decker received the second time in a row (a first in the competition history) the special award as “Best Choreographer“! The judges loved the number “The Mask – How It Began” so much, that she also received the special award for the Highest Points in the Amateur Class!

This is the exceptional result of the Viennese Dance Studio Broadway Connection at the Austrian Open 2006 for Musical and Showdance.

“I am happy about our success“, says KrisTina Decker. “One sees that all the sweat and hard training was worth it! I am really proud for my students!“

The medal score of the Broadway Connection confirms KrisTina Decker’s approach at the dance education for youth: Professionals share their knowledge, custom-made training for the students and manageable class size. Goal of the school is to offer – in addition to a broad range of dance styles – acting, singing and acrobatic. With that “Vienna’s First Show School” provides a solid foundation for a professional stage career.

The best dances of the Austrian Open qualified for the “EUROPEAN OPEN”. They will be held in Baden bei Wien from April 27-30, 2006. The European Open are the qualifyer for the “US OPEN” in America. The Broadway Connection won a couple of Gold medals last year.

Also this year students of the Broadway Academy and the Competition Team had a chance to visit some courses in the U.S.A. and to compete at the IDC, the International Dance Challenge (US-Open) in Las Vegas.

“Mr. Global” Corvin Frantsits, IDC 2005

Corvin Frantsits won 2 Gold Medals in Tap and was the Runner-Up “Mr. Global” in the male Junior category and received $ 150 price money. Further won Berenike Frantsits, Kerstin Lasshofer and Panja Böhm 2 Gold Medals in the category “Song & Dance”. For their already at Austrian and European Open medalled routine “Moondance” Maria Gabler and Petra Böhm received two Gold Medals. Berenike Frantsits and Kerstin Lasshofer won 2 Sterling Silver Medals in the category Jazz and Panja Böhm won 2 Sterling Silver Medals in the category Musical Theater.

Our “Large Groups” this year were compiled from Conny Schlemmer, Natascha Nepp, Olivia Teix, Kerstin Völker, Petra Böhm, Maria Gabler, Panja Böhm, Kerstin Lasshofer, Berenike Frantsits and Catalina Royuela-Sanit. “Hands Off” in the category Jazz/Large Group won 1 Gold and 1 Sterling Silver. “Lotus Pop” in the category Open/Large Group won 2 Gold Medals.
